The Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (Institut für Friedenssicherungsrecht und Humanitäres Völkerrecht, IFHV) was founded in 1988 by famous international legal scholar and then rector of the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB, Germany) Professor Knut Ipsen. The IFHV is a central research instiute of the RUB. It conducts independent research in the field of the international law of peace and armed conflict and in the field of humanitarian studies. Together with European and international partners, it also offers Europe's leading master on humanitarian action (NOHA Master).
