In June 2021 the ‘Independent Expert Panel for the Legal Definition of Ecocide,’ a small group of some of the world’s most renowned legal experts, published a legal definition of ‚ecocide’ as a new international crime. Although ecocide has the potential to become one of the most recent and impactful revolutions in international law, the concept is extremely controversial. To discuss the future of this new international crime the IFHV and the Graduate Institute in Geneva will convene a webinar with leading experts on September 23 at 4pm CET.
