The Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict's research cluster on Humanitarian Governance and Management hosted the webinar "Sea Level Rise between Responsibility and Protection" on March 31st, 2021. The event tackled some of the most pressing issues created by global sea level rise from the perspectives of international law and humanitarian action. These issues included questions of responsibility for the prevention of sea level rise and the mitigation of its consequences, questions of statehood in cases where whole territories are submerged as well as hurdles that humanitarian actors need to overcome to offer their assistance to peoples affected by sea level rise and which measures appear promising to improve their situations.
Practice Theory Workshop
Under the auspices of Prof. Dennis Dijkzeul and Prof. William DeMars the IFHV’s Research Cluster on Humanitarian Governance and Management conducted a workshop on practice theory with Input from the IFHV’s own Prof. Christian Gudehus and Dr. Carolin Funke together with external doctoral researchers.
