Vacancies
The IFHV regularly advertises positions in the scientific field, at irregular intervals also within our administration. Visit this site regularly, follow-us on our social media channels or subscribe to our newsletter to receive an instant notification whenever a position is open.
The IFHV stands for diversity and equal opportunities. We therefore promote cooperation of heterogeneous teams and the career paths of people who are underrepresented in the respective fields of work. The IFHV expressly encourages applications from women. In areas where they are underrepresented, they will be given preferential consideration if they have the same qualifications. Applications from people with disabilities are also very welcome.
Internships
The IFHV regularly welcomes interns from Germany and abroad who would like to learn more about international law and humanitarian action at one of Europe’s leading research institutes. We encourage all interested students with a background in law, political science, international relations, humanitarian studies, or any related field, to submit unsolicited applications at any time. As an accredited academic institution, the IFHV is certified to offer general internships for students (e.g., “Pflichtpraktika”) or administrative internships for law students (i.e., “Verwaltungspraktika”). Please note that compulsory internships which form part of your degree program (i.e., “Pflichtpraktika und Verwaltungspraktika”) can be offered for a maximum duration of three months. Voluntary internships can only be offered for a maximum duration of four weeks. Internships are generally unpaid and in-person, however, our internship coordination team can help you to obtain necessary funding through scholarships or other grants.
Your profile
Successful applicants demonstrate an excellent command of English and German (additional language skills are an advantage) and a basic knowledge of international law as well as a general interest in international affairs.
Application
If you would like to apply for an internship at the IFHV, please submit a cover letter, a CV, and your most recent transcript of records as a single file to ifhv@rub.de. Your cover letter should state your motivation, relevant experiences, and the exact timeframe for which you would like to apply. Applications should generally be submitted at least three months before the planned start of the internship in order for the internship committee to review your documents and prepare the internship.
In case you have any questions, please contact our internship coordinators Kai Budelmann and Selin Altay.
