Journal of International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (JILPAC) Call for Papers (2026)
"Climate Change and International Law: Implications and Transformations after the ICJ’s 2025 Advisory Opinion"
The editorial board
invites authors to submit papers to be published in the 1st issue of 2026
The Journal of International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict / Humanitäres Völkerrecht (JILPAC / HuV) specialises in the legal analysis surrounding armed conflicts. The journal focuses on contemporary challenges of international humanitarian law and related fields, including international human rights law and international criminal law, as well as on practical challenges of humanitarian aid and peace missions. It publishes papers, commentaries, case notes, book reviews, and conference reports on current events and future developments of the law and of humanitarian action in both English and German.
In light of the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice on climate change, the upcoming issue seeks to further explore climate-related challenges. We particularly invite submissions of articles focusing on the following topics:
• climate change obligations under international (humanitarian) law and questions of state responsibility
• climate change as a human rights concern: e.g. the right to water
• the role of the principle of solidarity in shaping international legal responses to climate change
• legal implications of sea-level rise
• litigation and climate change jurisprudence
