IFHV employees took part in the IHSA Conference 2023

Marius Heimlich, Darina Pellowska, Dennis Dijkzeul and former IFHV staff member Kristina Roepstorff participated in the #IHSAConference2023 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

nullDijkzeul led discussions on South-South Cooperation's role in localizationand moderated, together with Oliver Wiegers from CBM, three panel sessions on Disability Inclusion in Humanitarian Crises. He also presented a paper on inclusion of vulnerable groups. The day before the conference, he participated in a workshop on the humanitarian observatories and their role in local(ized) humanitarian governance. Faisal Khaled, a new IFHV staff member, also began working with his IFHV, HI and CBM colleagues. Heimlich presented a Kenyan case study on anti-FGM campaigns, emphasizing collaborative efforts. Together with two Bangladeshi colleagues, Darina Pellowska gave a presentation on South-South cooperation among local Bangladeshi organizations in Cox's Bazar. The conference ended with a book launch of the edited volume "Authoritarian practices and humanitarian negotiations" to which Maximillian Bertamini, Kristina Roepstorff and Dennis Dijkzeul contributed. The conference fostered rich dialogue, stressing the need for a contextualized understanding of crises and aid, revealing the potential of South-South cooperation, addressing barriers to disability inclusion, and inspiring transformative humanitarian action.
